I know I haven't submitted anything in a while, but I've been having some pretty bad art blocks coupled with an unhealthy obsession with American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns. So here are some quickie sketches and a half-done digital painting. Strangely enough, the two digital paintings I ever tried were both of Alice, the first one being the Disney version.
Alice is so appealing in a sense that she's not your cliche'd big, busty, athletic, over-the-top-supermodel videogame heroine. I find that really charming, in a crazy murderous kind of way.
I literally squee'd when I saw that you could dress Alice up in the outfits you unlocked on the main menu screen. Might get to drawing some of the outfits later on because they are absolutely adorable.
Also marvel at my failure at choosing colors for painting. That's probably the number 1 thing stopping me from doing a good digital painting. It's color choice and I need someone to guide me along the way for that. Will put in scraps later.
Unlockable outfits, eh? That's pretty sweet. I'm glad to hear you like the new one... I played the original, and while I loved it to death, the quality was a little... meh. Perhaps someday I'll play this one then.
I have just finished the game. I absolutely cannot believe that the story was more lurid, twisted, and depraved than the extremest interpretations I had at the beginning. Wow. What a great game!
Awesome man! Some advice about color might be to try using warm and color colors for things. Like shadows cool colors, and warm highlights. I'm still trying to figure out coloring in general as well.
I like your work!
you're incredible!!
I too am a big Alice fan, so much so that I ended up buying the official licensed costume for my daughter for Halloween (she doesn't know yet)!
I'm pretty sure we're see action figures, etc., coming out for the game, would be very nice to have a Figma version
